Katee Sackhoff to star in ABC crime drama
Katee Sackhoff has signed on for the lead role in a yet untitled pilot for ABC.
Sackhoff, best known as Starbuck on Battlestar Galactica, will be working with producer Richard Hatem, who previously worked on the set of Supernatural and Tru Calling. In the pilot, Sackhoff plays a beautiful female detective who teams up with a disgraced former cop to solve crimes and, in the long run, uncover the conspiracy that led to the former cop's downfall.
Sackhoff, who currently stars as troubled CTU analyst Dana Walsh on 24, was understood to have fielded multiple pilot offers before taking the crime drama, The Hollywood Reporter said. It is also understood that her character's storyline on the Fox action series is expected to conclude in such a way that Sackhoff would be available for new pilots, even if 24 returns for a ninth season.

Richard Hatem's pilot centers on a female detective
Sackhoff, who co-stars on Fox's "24" this season, fielded multiple offers this pilot season before settling on the Richard Hatem project.
The crime drama centers on a beautiful female detective (Sackhoff) who teams with a disgraced ex-cop to solve crimes and untangle the conspiracy that sent him underground.
The producers of "24" are tightlipped about any plot twists on the real-time action drama, but it's understood that Sackhoff's story line would allow her to take on a new series for next season even if "24" was to return for a ninth cycle.
Sackhoff, who played Kara "Starbuck" Thrace on "Battlestar Galactica," toplined NBC's drama pilot "Lost & Found" last season.
She is repped by Gersh and Bleu.

I love Sackhoff to pieces, but I am soooo sick of cop dramas. I'll give it a chance, though.

Re: Katee Sackhoff to star in ABC crime drama
Actually, we received discs 1 and 2 of The Wire from Netflix a week ago. We've been rewatching BSG, Caprica, and Carnivale with my cousin plus we're still going through Dexter so we haven't gotten to it yet, but we'll probably start in a couple of weeks. I do like serial cop dramas and don't mind watching them, especially those that I know are good.
So I suppose that I should rephrase and say that I'm sick of the fact that is seems like every new drama that comes out is centered around the police, FBI, CIA, or some similar entity. It seems like a cop out (pun intended) that keeps all of the standard plot devices in play, and I'd like to see something different. Especially since Katee has already played an officer of some sort in both of her other main roles, I'd like to see her playing something else.
Obviously, I haven't seen the show yet and I might love it when it comes out and it might bring something new to the table, but I'm a bit skeptical. Maybe I've just been scarred by Flash Forward.

Ugh, what a letdown that one was. I never made it past the 3rd epi.
At least its (the Katee show) not another franchise of CSI or Law & Order. Could you imagine if they kept spinning those off?
