The man behind the Battlestar Galactica reboot, Ronald D. Moore, has reportedly begun working on his next project, now that Sony Pictures Television has nabbed the rights to author Diana Gabaldon’s bestselling book series, Outlander.

Re: Outlander

Was hoping this wasn't the TV version of the James Caviezel film of the same name. Haven't read the books but I may if this gets picked up.

Re: Outlander

The series is a great read. I have been following it since the second book, Dragonfly in Amber was released and it is always difficult waiting for the next. Diana Gabaldon is a clever writer and has a large support group to remain close to historical and accurate detail. There has been a spin off series to further develop one of the other significant characters, John Grey.

My hope is that they choose unknowns to play the parts, although none will be able to recreate the mental images I have of each of them.

For others that follow the series with me, this is relatively big news that we all have been anticipating.

Re: Outlander

I haven't read the books, but this sounds interesting to me!

Re: Outlander

The premise doesn't sound all that intruiging - IMHO.
On the other hand, Ron Moore's name being attached to it gets my attention.

Re: Outlander

I absolutely hate the idea of the series being made into a TV series (or movies). And, if memory serves, Diana Gabaldon said more than once that she wouldn't want that to happen.

Oh well, money always talks.

Hyper Re: Outlander

Is there a new thread for this series? The series [16 episodes] is now a go for STARZ, probably debuting in the spring of 2014. Jamie Fraser has been cast and they are currently auditioning for Claire and Black Jack Randall/Frank Randall. I for one can't wait for this! The author is very pleased with the actor who was cast for Jamie.

I'm with you, az...one of my favorite books of all time, and I just can't see it working on the screen. But I follow Diana Gabaldon on FB so I've been seeing her posts about it, and she seems very excited about it.

Re: Outlander

Well, my previous comment was made in July last year--a lot of things can change in twelve months.

Still, I don't think I'll watch it whenever it comes out. Very few book-to-movie work for me, and it's often when I didn't like the book that much. Which this book, which I absolutely adored, I don't think it'll work at all.
